WHO IS ALKADABRA?

Alkadabra is a team of two artists (Vladimir Klintchev and Alya Svecharnik)
who share creative visions and dreams, equipment and philosophy.
We search the world for patterns and shapes that catch our eye and heart.
We embrace grand metaphors of life manifested in mundane objects,
we play hide and seek with familiar features of NYC,
we are devoted to discovering the beauty of the decay,
we are exploring the eternal theme of interrelationship between space(void) and time(lessness) -
by means of looking with great attention through photo lens.
We invite you to witness our journey.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Singing visual songs to random textures and color patterns,
to junk reflecting the sky and to water reflecting the metropolis,
coming to terms with correlation of life and death - all through imagery.

ABOUT THE PROCESS

We strive to achieve museum quality photographs that resemble paintings in color intensity and clarity of shapes when printed on archival canvas or solid textured fine art paper (in particular the TIPA-award winner Hahnemuhle papers).
We are shooting on film (the traditional old way) using professional medium format cameras - Hasselblad and Linhoff. We scan our negatives with a high quality drum scanner, and print them with Large Format 9800 Epson printer using UltraChrome K3 archival ink.
The small prints are open edition. As for the large prints, the edition is limited. We take greatest care of them: once the print is finished we sign it and cover it with an archival protective coating.
We sincerely hope that you enjoy our work, and will appreciate any feedback.
